Five Rings
After much anticipation, scepticism and a general national mean spirited malaise the Olympics have arrived. The opening ceremony was superb, a wonderful melange of all things British, all the elements of Great Britain; the history, music, theater, humor (really who would have guessed HM The Queen would be quite so ‘actively’ involved?) the general bonkersness that makes Britain great perfectly represented. Just as the five Olympic rings represent the union of the five continents at least one of the colours being present in every national flag of the participating countries. I doubt the Americans or the Spanish for that matter ‘got’ the NHS dancing nurses but what Britain in their right mind could fail to have been not merely impressed by the ceremony but proud of it too?
Let the games Begin!
